about

For me there’s something really interesting about creating a context based around another person’s perspective to communicate ideas and emotions. This song is one of many in which I do that. Perhaps the most well known Parable of Christ is that of The Good Samaritan. To avoid writing out a sermon in linear notes for an album you can find an account of that parable in the 10th chapter of the Gospel of Luke. This song is written from the perspective of the victim. We all need help in life and unfortunately we often become most aware of that in the worst times. On the other side there’s a real danger in becoming blind and heartless to the pain and brokenness around us. I want to be a man of conviction with open eyes, a heart that breaks for the broken, and a spirit of service in everything that I do.

This song had been around in my catalog of unfinished songs for upwards of three years. It was original written with the Bad Hare Day guys and I owe credit to Brent Seth for the main guitar line.

lyrics

Out on the roadway side
Down where the demons lie
I was a broken man
With a broken plan
They took my money my clothes
Everything I owned
Left me there to die
Sun burning my eye
I need a savior
Someone to pick me up brush me off
I need a savior
I’m running out of time out of life
They broke my legs my jaw
And they let me fall
I’ve got a bleeding side
I’m running out of time
A man passed me by
Is this the place I’ll die?
There goes another too
With my hope of rescue
I need someone
To rescue me
I can’t do it on my own
